What happened when I tried The Rock's arms and abs workout

You've come to the right place if you wondered how Dwayne The Rock Johnson stays in such exemplary shape in the upcoming Black Adam movie trailer.

It's my job as a fitness editor to research what Hollywood's elite do to stay in shape (check out Chris Hemsworth's 800 rep workout and Jennifer Aniston's 15-15-15 workouts here), so I took a deep dive into The Rock's intense training schedule.

To build his impressive physique, The Rock trains three to four hours a day, six days a week.

In his well-equipped home gym, The Iron Paradise, he also uses a technique called ‘splits’, where you target one muscle group at a time. He’ll train legs one day, arms and abs the next, then back, etc.

For more workout inspiration, here are the most effective ab exercises, according to Chris Hemsworth's trainer, a 15-minute dumbbell workout for your arms, and the most popular workout apps for your phone.

A strong chest finisher closing out my chest training today.

Alternating 20 reps per arm with controlled negatives, then dual reps to fatigue with 3 second negatives.

on Saturday, I usually train chest and back together and concentrate on quality, controlled reps for an intense pump. I also reduce volume if I don't want to overwork them.

Great one today. Worked hard. Raised the bar.
