Amazon Prime Day 2022 dates have just been announced

The mega-retailer has confirmed that Amazon Prime Day will be held on July 12 and 13. Amazon had previously announced the annual sales events would occur in July, but the specific dates have just been announced.

Prime Day is less than a month away. Prime Day is Amazon's faux holiday designed mainly to sell Prime memberships. It's a 48-hour event despite what the name would suggest.

In 2020, the holiday was delayed into October due to a pandemic that caused significant stock shortages across virtually every product category.

Prime Day offers millions of deals on popular items, from Instant Pots to running shoes, but Amazon's own products usually get the biggest discounts.

During the sales event, Alexa devices, Fire tablets, Fire Edition TVs and Kindle e-readers typically drop to all-time low prices. Prime Day is often the most popular time to buy on Amazon outside of Black Friday.

Amazon Prime Day started in 2015 as a way to celebrate its 20th anniversary. There was only a one-day event back then. It has evolved into a 48-hour extravaganza that not only has discounted deals but also a live-streamed concert last year featuring Billie Ellish, and this year featuring Taylor Swift.

The majority of Prime Day deals will be available on July 12 and 13, but there will still be savings available before the event. Amazon has traditionally started Prime Day with a week of teaser deals. Savings will start even earlier this year.

Deals will start appearing over the next few weeks as we approach Prime Day.

Prime Day deals can often be difficult to come by or only available for a short time frame. Therefore, you'll need to pay close attention if you want to save the most.
